The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, (http://med.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking highly skilled and motivated Endoscopists with expertise in Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD).
The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is ranked number 1 in research and teaching among global universities and ranked number 26 in clinical care by the US World News.
The successful candidates will join our advanced endoscopy team and work alongside leading specialists in gastroenterology, surgery, oncology and pathology. The successful candidates will perform complex ESD procedures across a broad range of gastrointestinal disorders, including but not limited to: Barrett's esophagus with early neoplasia, early gastric cancer, rectal adenomas and colorectal lesions, large sessile colonic polyps, other premalignant and early malignant GI lesions.
The successful candidates will also:
- be involved in advanced tissue resection, management of challenging lesions, and novel endoscopic therapies
- have opportunities for outpatient clinic time to diagnose and treat a wide range of gastroenterological conditions and research in endoscopy and device development and education
- serve as an important teaching faculty to the trainees in the advanced endoscopy preceptorship program as well as general gastroenterology fellowship program
- perform GI endoscopic procedures in the endoscopic suite or operating rooms
- participate in an on-call rotation for treating and managing gastroenterology emergencies and/or consultation.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or MD/PhD in Gastroenterology or related field.
Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the California Medical Board.
Candidates must also be board certified or board-eligible in Gastroenterology.
Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of training performing endoscopic submucosal dissection by the start of the appointment.
Candidates that have completed GI fellowship training are preferred.
