Lakeland Community College invites qualified candidates to submit their application to teach POLS 1300- US National Government at Mentor High School, a Lakeland College Credit Plus partner.

Fall Semester: 8/24/24 - 12/13/24.

Course: POLS 1300 – Us National Government (3 units of load) at Mentor High School

Course Description: This course provides an examination of the formation, structure, processes and fundamental political principles of the United States political system, including the development of the Constitution and the federal system, civil rights and liberties, public opinion and political participation, political parties and interest groups, the role of money and the media in the political system, political campaigns and elections, Congress and the legislative process, the presidency, and the federal judiciary. It focuses not only on the achievements of the political system but on its shortcomings as well, thus leading to consideration of the political challenges facing the system and suggestions for reform.

Course Time: Mentor High School (6477 Center St. Mentor OH 44060):

  • Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 9:10am to 9:58am.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required: master’s degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline (either as part of the degree or additional work beyond the degree)
  • Preferred: master’s degree in the discipline and experience teaching college-level courses at a community college.

COMPENSATION: Part-time faculty earn $792/unit of load. Please see Benefits for Adjunct Faculty for a description of other benefits.
