Job Description
Inver Hills Community College seeks an Unlimited Full-time Pre-Social Work faculty member dedicated to teaching excellence, and who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student- centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives, and along with the Dean of the Division, will guide the department in program planning and review and implementation to meet the needs for the next generation of culturally competent social workers and human service professionals. The ideal candidate would be able to provide program planning, review, and assessment of the college’s Social Justice Studies program. Example of Duties:
  • Actively participate in department and college curriculum development
  • Deliver classroom, blended/hybrid, hyflex, and online course instruction
  • Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities
  • Actively participate in college-wide initiatives.
  • Engage in scholarly and other professional development activities.
  • Mentor and advise students from commencement of the program through to degree completion
  • In conjunction with Career Services, coordinate and facilitate outside educational opportunities in the fields of social work and social justice.
  • Foster an environment of inclusiveness, belonging, and demonstrated commitment to diversity

Required Qualifications
Education Requirement
  • Master’s degree with a major in human services, social work, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, or human development or
  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 16 graduate semester credits (24 graduate quarter credits) in human services, social work, clinical psychology, or counseling psychology or
  • Master’s degree with a major in sociology or counseling with 10 graduate semester credits (15 graduate quarter credits) in human services.

 

 
Occupational Experience Requirement
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in human services, social work, clinical psychology, or counseling psychology.
 

Recency Requirement
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current social work license with the Minnesota Board of Social Work
  • Master degree in Social Work or Doctoral degree in related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education
  • Coursework and experience in Social Justice Studies
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery, including web enhanced and online instruction
  • Experience developing and using student centered, active and experiential learning strategies
  • Experience integrating cross cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction
  • Experience assessing student academic achievement of campus wide and classroom learning outcomes

Other Requirements
  • Master’s degree must be completed prior to start date.

Benefits Info
Salary: Full time faculty salaries currently range from $41,976 – $90,144 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023 – 2025 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.

Depending on credit load, the State of Minnesota offers:
