Full job description
PCC’s Psychology Program has current immediate openings for Part-time Faculty who are able to teach on-campus, in-person classes – 2 days per week, for 2 hours per day. These opportunities are available at the Rock Creek, Cascade, Southeast, and Sylvania campuses, and include the following courses:
PSY 101 Psychology and Human Relations
PSY 201 Introduction to Psychology I
PSY 202 Introduction to Psychology II
PSY 215 Human Development
If you are interested in being considered, please provide us with the following information on your Cover Letter (you will have the opportunity to upload your Cover Letter during the application process).
1) Of the courses listed in the Psychology Course Content & Outcome Guides what specific classes do you have content expertise and experience teaching? Please provide specifics about the specific courses you have taught and the number of sections you have taught.
2) We need the following courses taught on campus in-person. Please tell us about your content expertise and experience teaching in these classes:
PSY 101 Psychology and Human Relations
PSY 201 Introduction to Psychology I
PSY 202 Introduction to Psychology II
PSY 215 Human Development
3) Please tell us the specific days of the week and time ranges you are available to teach at the following campuses: 1) Rock Creek; 2) Cascade; 3) Southeast; and 4) Sylvania.
4) Do you have training and experience teaching and utilizing Brightspace Desire 2 Learn or D2L? What Learning Management Software do you have experience teaching from and utilizing?
5) We may have some winter 2025 synchronous hybrid courses that include teaching remotely using Zoom. Please tell us about your experience using Zoom and specifically teaching via Zoom.
Instructor Qualifications
Master’s degree, or higher, in Psychology (including all specialized degree with Psychology in the title of the degree- )
OR
Master’s degree, or higher, in Counseling (including specialties in MFT, MFCC, CMF- )
OR
Master’s degree, or higher, in a Related Are- a Completion of 30 quarter-hours of graduate credit in a Psychology or Counseling Departmen

Related Area degree include, but are not limited to:
Cognitive Science, Human Science, Neuroscienc- e Social or Human Ecology, Social Work, Human Developmen

The list of Related Areas may not be inclusive. The Division Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair (and/or screening committee), will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction about the applicability of a particular degree that is outside the scope of these lists. The SAC may recommend a Master’s degree outside of these qualifications for a special-topic course.
Qualifications for PSY 236 (Psychology of Adult Development & Aging) Course:

Note Regarding Academic Credentials:
- Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard. These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs. Benefits are pro-rated for part-time employees.
Part-time faculty health insurance eligibility is based on workload during the previous academic year. Once eligible, available insurance plans include Health, Dental, and Vision options, as well as Long-term Care.
PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. Part-time faculty may be eligible for PERS/OPSRP if they meet the requirement of six months of employment and are working 600 hours or more per year. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children under 24 years of age, as well as tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.
- 2 hours sick leave per pay period, up to 32 hours per year; a maximum of 8 hours of accrued sick leave per academic year may be used for personal reasons.
