Position Summary:
The Communication Program at the College of Western Idaho is looking for adjunct faculty members to teach Introduction to Communication (COMM 101) courses in a face-to-face, hybrid, or online environment. Successful candidates are required to use the Blackboard learning platform for grading, posting office hours, making announcements, etc. The successful candidate may be asked to teach M-F during the day, evening, or Saturday at any of the College of Western Idaho’s campus locations. To reach a broad range of students, the College of Western Idaho encourages instructors to explore alternative teaching styles and methods.
Essential Functions:
- Teach contracted credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in
- Utilize outcomes assessment measures
- Participates in instructional evaluation processes
- Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviations promptly and accurately
- Monitor and record student progress, maintain accurate records, and adhere to the College
- Demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic,
- Read, understand, agree, and adhere to the Social and Behavioral Sciences’ Letter of
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Communication
- Ability to enact a variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities,
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
- Proficiency in the use of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation
- Successful experience teaching at a community college or with adult learners preferred
- Experience using instructional technology preferred
