Position Summary

Director of Recruitment

Salary Schedule: Commensurate with education and experience according to Salary Schedule C3.

Scope of Responsibilities: The Director of Recruitment is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all student recruitment strategies for the college. As such this position is accountable for mastering the enrollment funnel process, aggressively identifying and tracking students from prospect to enrollee, and ultimately achieving or exceeding specific enrollment goals. The ideal candidate will be competitively target-driven, and possess positive energy, confidence, exceptional communication skills, and marketing savvy. Must be oriented toward teamwork and collegiality and possess the willingness to work flexible hours as this position requires regular participation in on- and off-campus workshops/events. The Director must be able to problem solve with appropriate cognitive abilities and to multi-task, prioritize, and efficiently manage time. Finally, this position must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of student records as mandated by FERPA and institutional policies.


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to adhering to the general guidelines as specified by the Faculty/Staff Handbook, Dean of Instruction, President and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, responsibilities includes the following:


  • Develop and implement comprehensive student recruitment strategies that align with the college’s enrollment goals.
  • Lead the recruitment team, providing supervision, training, and development to achieve recruitment targets.
  • Analyze enrollment trends and recruitment data to forecast and report on recruitment efforts.
  • Identify target populations and develop recruiting strategies that track each subpopulation through the recruiting and enrollment funnel: prospects, inquiries, applications, completed applications, and enrolled students.
  • Collect and record all inquiry/prospect information in a database and aggressively work each contact to increase enrollment yields.
  • Build collaborative partnerships and visit high schools, higher education institutions, career fairs, community events, career centers, business & industry organizations, and other places where targeted populations may be recruited.
  • Assist with new student orientation and special activities/events to get prospects/inquiries/applicants engaged with campus throughout the entire year.
  • Work with other Departments regarding activities, advertisements, communications, and printed materials related to promoting the college’s programs and services.
  • Partner with the financial aid and advising offices to provide prospective students with a seamless recruitment-to-enrollment experience.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees, students, and visitors.
  • Be an ambassador for the College. Support the college’s initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Provide regular reports to leadership on recruitment progress, challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry in the CRM and related enrollment systems.
  • Comply with all the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees policies, the ACCS Chancellor’s Office, and the College.
  • Participate in College functions.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Dean of Students, the Dean of Students, or the President

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Two years of recruitment experience.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Valid and unexpired driver’s license.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, planning, organizing, and prioritizing with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of office information.
  • Ability to prepare and implement a budget.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Alabama Community College System
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a professional manner.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Further retirement benefits may be found on this page under Alabama Teacher's Retirement.

Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama.
 
Tier I - Pays 7.50% monthly. State matches 13.57% (effective 10/01/24)
 
Tier II – Pays 6.20% monthly. State matches 12.60% (effective 10/01/24)

Health Insurance
PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control.
