Job Description

As an adjunct faculty member, this position will be responsible for educating future leaders in addiction counseling to improve treatment and recovery from alcohol and drug dependence. This position may have responsibilities in residential programs. This position involves course instruction focused on the achievement of specified learning outcomes and may include academic support to students, coordination of guest lecturers, development and implementation of lectures and other learning activities, grading, and other related duties.
  • Teach and revise course content to ensure optimum learning outcomes.
  • Provide supervision necessary to promote acquisition of incremental student competency through clinical laboratory and internship experiences. (Relevant only to group supervision faculty)

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. If Master’s degree is not in a relevant field, evidence of 18 credit hours of graduate level coursework in subject matter that is directly relevant to the applied for position
  • Increasing responsibility in the academic and/or substance abuse field after completion of a Master’s degree
  • Evidence of significant contributions to the field, such as program development, clinical and/or administrative leadership, service innovation, research, professional publications, specialization in a desired academic concentration, (i.e. racial and cultural differences, dual diagnosis, women’s studies, sexual minorities, relapse prevention, etc.)
  • Subject matter expertize relevant to course content
  • Consideration of teaching effectiveness
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current professional license, i.e., counseling, social work, psychology or field relevant to course of instruction
  • Prior experience in higher learning
  • Knowledge of current educational technology tools
  • Experience designing and teaching online graduate courses
  • Experience utilizing backwards course design
