The base pay range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description

The University of California, San Diego, Department of Pediatrics (http://pediatrics.ucsd.edu) in the Division of Nephrology and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego (RCHSD) (http://www.rchsd.org) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking to fill the position of Division Chief of Pediatric Nephrology.

Faculty members in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology are currently involved in basic science, clinical, and translational research, as well as quality improvement initiatives. The Division's research is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health, charitable Foundations, and the Pharmaceutical Industry. Faculty participate in national collaborations including NAPRTCS, CKiD, SCOPE, and PRNC. Division faculty members are actively engaged in the training of UCSD medical students and pediatric residents. The Division has a long-standing ACGME-accredited pediatric nephrology fellowship program and currently has two fellows.

The Comprehensive Kidney Care Center at RCHSD, a top ten US News & World Report Honor Roll Children's Hospital, houses the general nephrology, transplant, and dialysis clinics and a five-station pediatric dialysis unit. Activities include shared care for 15-25 chronic hemo- and peritoneal dialysis patients and 10-15 kidney transplant recipients per year, as well as CRRT, and apheresis programs. Beyond the main RCHSD campus, we also provide consultative services at the UCSD NICU at Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla, Sharp Mary Birch, Kaiser-Permanente, and Rady satellite clinics in northern San Diego County and Riverside County. The Division of Nephrology has been consistently ranked in the top 30 in the Nation by the US News and World Report and most recently ranked 13th.

The Division Chief of Nephrology will report to the Department Chair of Pediatrics and lead the division's strategic, clinical, academic, operational, and financial goals. They will provide leadership, quality oversight, and direction, defining the scope of practice in line with the missions of UC San Diego, Children's Specialists of San Diego, and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. The Division Chief will shape the future of the operational and academic initiatives of the division and will strengthen relationships across divisions. The Division Chief will be expected to contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.

The appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor level and will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, or MD/PhD in a relevant field of Pediatrics.

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics in the subspecialty of Nephrology.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with a high-quality publication record, excellent trainee outcomes, and sustained competitive extramural funding are preferred.
