Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Serve as teaching assistant (TA) for AASP230 Social (In)Justice and African-American Health and Well-Being, an I-Series course focused on African American health disparities. TA responsibilities will include:
  • Attend regularly-scheduled lectures, hold regular office hours, meet regularly with the supervising faculty, and correct and grade student papers.
  • The supervising faculty may define additional duties and expectations.
  • TA responsibilities will require a weekly time commitment of 10 hours averaged over the term of the appointment.
  • Benefits include up to 5 credits of tuition remission (or candidacy tuition) per semester and the option to participate in the faculty/staff health benefits program.
  • International Teaching Assistants agree to provide the University, upon request, evidence of employability as required by United States immigration laws.

Minimum Qualifications:

The qualified candidate must be enrolled in a degree program as a full-time graduate student at the University of Maryland College Park and be in good academic standing.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Experience with Canvas/ELMS.
  • Past experience working with undergraduate students, grading, meeting with students, responding to student emails, and providing instruction.
  • Background in African American and Africana Studies, Sociology, Public Policy, Public Health, or a related field.
