Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Director of Educational Technologies at the University of Maryland is a dynamic leadership role responsible for shaping and implementing innovative technology solutions that enhance teaching and learning. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Technology & Innovation, the Director collaborates closely with academic and administrative partners to introduce cutting-edge technology solutions across campus. We seek a visionary leader with proven management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to design and implement technology solutions that empower faculty and students in physical and virtual learning environments. This role requires strong leadership, project management, interpersonal, and customer-centric skills to plan and deliver educational technology solutions effectively.

This position is considered an essential position and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergencies to help maintain continuity of University services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience:
  • At least ten years of experience working with educational technologies.
  • At least five years of experience supporting educational technology systems and services.
  • At least five years of experience managing teams.

Knowledge , Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of technology-enhanced pedagogy and learning principles.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.).
  • Teaching experience, especially in higher education.
  • Expertise in designing innovative, accessible technology for learning environments.
  • Collaborative skills and experience working with diverse constituencies.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) management experience.
  • Strong records in strategic planning and budget management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

Additional Information:

Benefits Included:

Salary range $163,000-$192,000.
