Adjunct Faculty, Healthcare Executive MBA (Managerial Finance)
Job Description
The Barowsky School of Business is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a Healthcare Executive MBA program course during the fall of 2024 (August-October 2024). The class meets online on Thursdays and in person on four Saturdays.
Responsibilities
- Teach a three-unit course at the graduate level
- Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
- Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
- Uphold academic performance standards and integrity
- Instructors are required to work with the School to complete assessments of their course for AACSB Assurance of Learning purposes
Course Description
MBAH 5406 Managerial Finance for Healthcare (August 26-October 8, 2024; online on Thursdays from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and in-person on four Saturdays from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm)- - The objective of this course is to develop an understanding of the interrelationship between strategy and finance within healthcare organizations from the management perspective. Particular attention is given to differences between for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and regulatory constraints in the healthcare sector. Topics include ratio analysis, cost accounting, rate setting, capital budgeting, sources of financing, cash management, variance analysis and current healthcare financing issues.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in finance or business with an emphasis on healthcare finance.
- Experience teaching finance courses at the MBA or graduate level.
- Working proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Slides) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Proficiency in working with Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Finance with an emphasis on healthcare.
- Experience teaching healthcare finance at the MBA level.
- Working experience in the healthcare industry.
