Early Childhood Teacher I

Summary of Position

This position is part of the UNH laboratory school on campus and is part of the College of Health and Human Services within the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
The chosen candidate will work under the general supervision of the executive director and assistant director, and in collaboration with a teaching team, will plan, implement, and document an exemplary early childhood educational program for children, families, and students. This position may be assigned to an infant through preschool classroom as needed on an annual basis.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: 3-5 years

Substitution: Master’s degree in Early Childhood or Pre-school Education and two years of experience in teaching pre-school children or Bachelor’s degree in Early Child hood, Pre-school Education or Elementary Education with at least 6 credits in Early Childhood or Pre-school Education and four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience in a university laboratory school and/or NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accredited program. Skills and experience that can contribute to achieving the center’s diversity mission. Experience working as a cooperating teacher with college interns or student teachers. Strong background in and knowledge of social-constructivist education. NH state teacher certification (or other acceptable state certification) in Pre-K and/or Kindergarten. Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.

Physical Demands

Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
