Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Founded in 1970 as Floyd Junior College, it now serves more than 6,000 students in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama across its five locations in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas. GHC currently offers over 30 areas of study with associate degree and bachelor’s degree options both in the classroom and online.

Job Summary


 

This position has administrative oversight for the operations of the specific School Division.

Responsibilities


 
  • Support and carry out the college¿s mission, values, and strategic priorities in compliance with the mandates and regulations of the University System of Georgia and all associated accrediting agencies
  • Develop course schedules for all courses in the specific division; assign courses to all full and part-time faculty to meet their course load requirements; revise and adapt schedules based on student needs and enrollment factors
  • Maintain data on course enrollment across terms, courses, campuses, and modalities
  • Coordinate with faculty to develop, evaluate, and revise curricula; ensure assessment activities are conducted in a timely manner
  • Evaluate course equivalency of transfer credits
  • Recruit, screen, and hire part-time faculty within the division(s)
  • Recruit full-time faculty; oversee faculty hiring committees for the division(s)
  • Complete online or classroom observations of part and full-time faculty
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate part and full-time faculty
  • Support faculty in annual goals and evaluations; engage with tenure and promotion processes as dictated by college policy
  • Manage textbook and software selection for division courses
  • Plan and lead division faculty meetings
  • Serve on college committees as assigned
  • Maintain a reasonable presence on all campuses as needed
  • Resolve student issues and/or complaints according to applicable college policy
  • Teach required 2-2-1 course load each academic year
  • Regularly attend twice-monthly Chair Council meetings
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

 
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver¿s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Commensurate with relative experience and education
