Career Advisor, Career Advising and Education

Job Description

CAREER ADVISOR, Career Advising and Professional Development (CAPD), to provide a comprehensive range of career development services, including career advising appointments, outreach, workshops, seminars, and employment preparation for undergraduate and graduate students and recent alumni, with a special focus on services for underserved/underrepresented students.  Will deliver services to enhance career development for students as they consider career paths across a wide-range of industries and academia; act as a liaison to underserved/underrepresented students and student groups, including low-income, first-generation, LGBTQ+, and racial and ethnic minority students; act as a liaison to assigned academic programs, targeted populations, student organizations, and/or career communities; provide career advising, maintain educational content online, plan programming, and identify career-related materials/resources specific to assigned areas; assist with the creation of career information for the CAPD website and related print/online collateral; review new career development resources and make recommendations for the team; develop collaborations and outreach programming with related faculty, department administrators, staff, student organizations, alumni, and employers; support and guide students in career exploration and development; and administer and interpret individual interest, skills, abilities, and values assessment instruments (e.g., Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Clifton Strengths, and various card sorts and self-assessment materials).  May supervise staff, interns, and student workers as needed.

CAPD helps students develop and implement their educational and career plans and provides professional development support.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience with an emphasis on counseling, student affairs, human resource management or related field.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree combined with at least one of experience in a career center or higher education setting related to career development and recruiting services.  Job #23954-6

Salary range: $60,000 - 68,000, based on experience

A hybrid schedule, with both remote and on-campus work, is available.
