Sauk Valley Community College, a comprehensive community college located in a picturesque rural setting invites applications from innovative individuals for an Adjunct Faculty, Speech Instructor.
Located in rural northwestern Illinois, along the scenic Rock River, between the cities of Dixon and Sterling; the College is one hour from Rockford and the Quad Cities and two hours west of Chicago.
Responsibilities:
Teach Com 131; Intro to Oral Communication, Fall 2024
The oral communication course combines communication theory with the practice of oral communication skills. The course: (1) develops awareness of the communication process; (2) provides inventional, organizational, and expressive strategies; (3) promotes understanding of and adaptation to a variety of communication contexts; and (4) emphasizes critical skills in listening, reading, thinking, and speaking.
To be cognizant of the philosophy and objectives of the College and use them as guidelines in planning, structuring, and teaching courses. Reports directly to the Dean of Transfer Programs and Academic Support Services who is the supervisor over the position.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Speech or Communication or relevant Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Speech or Communication required. Experience teaching in a community college environment preferred.
