This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Moores Cancer Center and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Moores Cancer Center (MCC) is one of just 54 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States and the only one in San Diego County. As a consortium cancer center, it is a collaborative partnership between the UCSD: encompassing 28 departments, 6 schools (School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Public Health, Jacobs School of Engineering, School of Biological Sciences & the School of Physical Sciences), UCSD Health oncology hospitals and clinics; the basic and public health research and outreach of San Diego State University (SDSU), and the basic and translational research of the La Jolla Institute of Immunology (LJI). The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at UCSD's Moores Cancer Center administers many clinical trials on behalf of its member investigators, including trials sponsored by National Cancer Institute cooperative groups, pharmaceutical companies, and physician investigators.

Under general direction, the Training and Education Specialist for clinical research will serve as subject matter expert on clinical research education programs and activities. Leads the development and implementation of programmatic activities, which may include program competencies, curriculum, and exams. Serves as a main point of contact for training and onboarding of new staff. Serves as a liaison between all relevant stakeholders, which may include course chairs, program directors, department chairs, contractors, department administration, faculty, and learners.

MINIMIM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eleven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus seven years of related experience/training.

  • Expert analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Expert knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.

  • In-depth knowledge of clinical research coordination in an oncology setting.

  • Strong experience providing in-service training to various research personnel on protocols, processes, and procedures.

  • Expert knowledge of training and delivery methodologies, organizational diagnosis, organization and business strategies. Expert ability to facilitate educational technology opportunities using technology-based solutions.

  • Expert verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and advanced presentation skills. Skills to work collaboratively coordinate and integrate with others throughout the organization. Successful experience working with people with a wide range of backgrounds and skills. Strong diplomacy skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with department, Management, industry leaders and external agencies. Proven ability to advise and influence all levels of leadership and staff. Excellent communicator; great critical thinking and advising skills. Persuasive ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance from leadership

  • Expert project and program management skills. Leads teams and directs projects through from inception to completion on schedule.

  • Expert knowledge of training and development, performance and workplace learning. Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes.

  • Expert knowledge of clinical research policies and regulatory requirements. Expert knowledge of a clinical research education program curriculum and requirements. Maintains a broad range of expertise in clinical research education theory and industry best practices.

  • Expert knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills to develop and implement complex processes and systems improving program quality and efficiency and reducing cost.

  • Demonstrated intercultural skills, including the ability to adapt to the needs and skillsets of learners.

  • Excellent presentation skills to small and large audiences.

  • Expert knowledge of educational software and technologies to promote a wide range of teaching and learning goals. Expert knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program.

  • Proven ability to find creative and innovative solutions to adjusting needs of the center. Ability to be resourceful and to understand the overall nature of work/responsibilities to establish useful resources and University contacts. Prior experience in developing and implementing training and education strategies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least two (2) years prior experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC), Project Manager (PM) and in clinical trial operations.

  • SoCRA, ACRP or RAPS certification at time of hire or within one year of hire.

  • Prior experience in developing and implementing strategies for diversity and inclusion in clinical research.

  • Fluency in English and at least one of the following languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin or Cantonese.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Must have access to transportation to travel between/to Network Sites and Moores Cancer Center.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
