Assistant/Associate Professor, Business and Economics
Job Description
Notre Dame of Maryland University seeks talented assistant/associate faculty passionate about teaching and learning. This faculty member must be a generalist able to teach both Accounting and Finance, with additional ability to teach in the following area(s): Risk Management, Business Law, Business Communication, Supply Chain Management or Data Analysis.
While a doctorate is preferred a master’s degree in a related field is required. Evening campus-based availability is required as well. This is a tenure-track position. Applicants must be able to work in the United States.
Faculty members are expected to:
- Demonstrate the ability to teach courses in finance at undergraduate and graduate level and, depending on interest and expertise, other courses in the department such as risk management and insurance, and real estate, to a diverse, contemporary student population and contribute to meaningful assessment of student learning.
- Engage in scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study.
- Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance.
- Engage in service to the university and community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving a diverse student body by delivering a student-centered education and using approaches that support equitable outcomes for all students.
Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution in finance or financial economics. ABDs with expected completion by August 15, 2025 will also be considered.
- Career goals aligned with university vision and objectives.
- Demonstrated potential for success in teaching and professional service activities.
- A plan for scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research in the specified discipline(s), or related disciplines.
- Effective Communication skills (written and verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an institution with a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse workforce and student population.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated effectiveness teaching at a post-secondary level.
- Demonstrated professional development and engagement specifically related to teaching effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to be a teacher-scholar who actively engages in research, and through that provides benefits to students in terms of teaching effectiveness, undergraduate and graduate research opportunities and curriculum development.
- Experience developing course curricula at a post-secondary institution.
- Demonstrated contributions to assessment of student learning at a post-secondary institution.
- Professional development and/or expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-racist pedagogy, and/or universal design.
