Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required, Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in higher education, preferably in student affairs.
  • One of more years of experience working with diverse student populations from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team in an innovative environment.
  • Event planning experience preferred.

A. POSITION GOALS
  • Demonstrate and promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • This position supports equity in Career and Technical Education (CTE) Perkins-eligible programs to increase CTE career awareness opportunities, improve equity, non-traditional student participation, retention, completion and overall success. This position will work with CTE faculty, staff and students on equity events and workshops, and to assist campus understanding of issues surrounding equity and diversity on campus to ensure CTE Perkins program objectives are met and related support requirements are fulfilled. This position works closely with and supports the Director of Career Services and CTE administrative staff members to achieve these goals. Under the guided pathways model, this role also supports the college’s focus on career pathway exploration & identification, professional development, and career & employment outcomes for students.

 

 
B. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socio economic backgrounds.
  • Coordinate, develop and execute CTE Career Program Exploration/Awareness Events such as: Career Workshops, Career Fairs, Career Trek Events, etc. for Perkins eligible programs focusing on equity, non-traditional students and special populations.
  • Enhance CTE Program partnerships with high schools for all CTE Perkins eligible programs and developing/coordinating events that will support this initiative.
  • Identify underserved populations within the local community and develop/coordinate community Career Exploration Events aimed at serving those populations.
  • Coordinate and assist CTE faculty and staff with enhancing CTE Program partnerships with local industry to help address inequity in CTE Perkins eligible programs and occupations.
  • Identify, develop and maintain database of CTE Program partners within the community for all Perkins eligible programs.
  • Assists the Director of Career Services in collecting data and generating reports to achieve the goals of the Perkins grant.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Career Services, works with faculty, deans, project manager, and other interested parties on campus to develop initiatives and programming to improve equity and awareness in CTE Perkins eligible programs as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain database of scholarships specific to CTE programs of study and/or specifically supports student diversity and equity. Seeks out opportunities for promoting scholarships to CTE program students and assists students with application process.
  • Processes Temporary Part-time employee requests for CTE coaches, records and approves payroll hours. Collects, reviews, approves, and maintains Perkins Time and Effort reports for all CTE coaches.
  • Plans CTE Career Services Perkins budget and tracks expenditures throughout the academic year.
  • Partner with CTE program faculty to develop an annual schedule of CTE Career Expos, and work with program faculty annually to plan and execute these events.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities to network with industry peers to continually enhance knowledge of innovative ways for applying Perkins funds to support equity in Perkins eligible CTE programs.
  • Continually seeks out and provides professional development opportunities for CTE Coaches
  • Track participants in CTE Career Exploration Events and maintain follow up to address questions regarding CTE career pathways/programs.
  • Participate in college events such as open house and other special events to promote non-traditional CTE programs and career pathways
  • Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned.
