Entrepreneurship Instructor & Program Coordinator, Venture Lab, FTT
The Department of Management in Davis College of Business and Economics and Radford University seeks an entrepreneurship instructor who will also serve as the Program Coordinator for the Radford University Venture Lab (VL). The position is classified as a fulltime, temporary faculty member who will be on a 12-month appointment. The Venture Lab’s main purpose is to attract a diverse student body from all disciplines at RU to entrepreneurship academic programs, courses, and related activities. It is also responsible for providing programs and services that engage students in innovation and entrepreneurial activities in order to facilitate the identification of innovative ideas and help develop those ideas into feasible business ventures.
The person in this position will support the entrepreneurship program by helping with recruitment, designing courses and programs, coordinating the activities of student entrepreneurs in the Venture Lab, and teaching courses as needed. The Program Coordinator will work with the Venture Lab Director, university faculty, Venture Lab’s Brand Ambassador team, and ecosystem partners to create an environment where students can connect and interact with business, social, and corporate innovators. The Program Coordinator will play a significant role in supporting the Entrepreneurship Living-Learning Community, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Club.
Design & teach entrepreneurship courses and workshops – Design and deliver both credit and non-credit innovation entrepreneurship courses and workshops both in-person and online for internal and external groups.
Help plan, coordinate and host high-impact entrepreneurship events , including fireside chats with successful entrepreneurs, the annual Innovation Challenge, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization events, and the Entrepreneurship Living-Learning Community events.
Manage & grow social media presence - Design and execute a social media campaign across multiple outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, TicTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn for Venture Lab and the Department of Management accounts.
Supervise and direct the Brand Ambassador team’s work.
Help recruit new entrepreneurship students – Participate in recruitment activities targeting potential entrepreneurship students on campus and at the high schools and community colleges.
Support individual entrepreneurial students – Act as a connector, mentor, and empathetic ear during weekly office hours.
Update weekly progress reports – Reports should follow a logic map and include inputs, activities, and outcomes for the Venture Lab team.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate:
Online and in-person teaching & instructional design experience
A high comfort level with online technology, such as VoiceThread and Mural
Project management experience, especially agile
Social media competencies – Demonstrated experience across a wide range of outlets
Professional communication skills – Both verbal and written
Event planning, management, and promotion experience
Strong creative skills for content, video, and graphic design is a major plus
Anticipated start date: August 10, 2023.

- Experience or training in instructional design and delivery, · Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects and/or programs,
- Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills, · Demonstrated reliability in following through on ideas, handling details, and meeting deadlines.
- Previous budgetary responsibility, · Strong creative skills with a demonstrated understanding of digital platforms and technologies, · Experience as an entrepreneur and/or significant consulting experience. · Experience in the use of social media as a recruitment and marketing tool · Grant writing or fund raising experience. · Existing knowledge and contacts with the business community.
Graduate degree from an AACSB accredited college or school of business. The position will require maintenance of AACSB Instructional Practitioner, Scholarly Practitioner, or Practicing Academic qualifications. Graduate Degree with at least 18 hours of management, entrepreneurship, or other relevant courses.
